Artist Statement:

My paintings are parts of me, known and unknown. I expose and hide myself in their stories. The painting process is a way I connect and heal. I hope sharing my work gives others a chance to discover parts of themselves and connect to their story, joining me on the healing journey.

Bio:

I never thought of myself as an artist,I just loved making art. I felt alone and different growing up as a white girl in Asia and unable to feel normal when I came to the USA for college.Art was a connection to myself even when I didn’t know who I was.I got married too young and had three babies quickly, one with severe special and medical needs. As I juggled all that was going on in my world, I kept making art, it kept me happy. Watercolors, acrylics, and oils were all mediums I dabbled in.  Finally feeling like I needed more serious direction than what I found at college or on my own, I was connected to Dennis Blalock, a master oil painter. Under his mentorship, a belief in myself bloomed, and a passion for the process helped me to grow immensely as an artist.
I added therapy to my life to help navigate life, trauma, and divorce and discovered that my paintings were part of me. As I learned to connect with who I was, I found freedom in painting, challenging the rules I had been imposed on me and exploring self-expression.

I paint different subject matter, depending on the mood. Using both palette knife and brushwork to let the paint tell the story. I tend to work in an earth-toned palette with pops of color. I also accept commission work.
